Switchboard overview

The Swithchboards for LSF-II is Electric Power Distribution System that supports the craft's primary power distribution system with AC distribution consisting of 400Hz, 208/115 VAC, 3 Phase power and DC power system of 28 VDC. The distribution system also protects itself, and its generators from damage that might otherwise be caused by faults in the system or connected equipment.

System Configuration

Primary power (208 VAC, 400Hz) is provided from either external shore power or the two APU-driven generators. Generator power and shore power are distributed through the craft using the same buses. After the generators are started and power is available, the generator can be placed on-line. Secondary 28 VDC power is provided from either storage battery or TRU (Transformer Rectifier Unit). TRU converts 208 VAC to 28 VDC in order to feed the DC distribution system. And the battery can serve as emergency DC power source.
